Bill, who do you think "won" the Buffalo/Winnipeg deal? Do you think the Flyers should have tried to up what Buffalo offered for Kane/Bogosian?

I think Winnipeg fared better. And, no, I would not have offered that nearly that much. I do like Bogosian and always have, however.

Do you think Bogosian was the best player moved? I personally would rather have him that Kane, in a vacuum.

I would rather have Myers than Bogosian.

To beat Buffalo's offer it would have taken something like:

BSchenn + Coburn + Gostisbehere + Laughton + 2015 1st for Kane and Bogosian.

That's way too much.

I would rather have Myers than Bogosian.

yup. couple days back i was saying B schenn, read, coburn, hagg, 2015 1st, 2016 2nd would get those 2

Have my doubts that Kimmo is going to resemble anything worth what a team would trade a draft pick for. I'd take anything but I'd be surprised if he's moved at all.

What would it take for OEL? I think Hextall makes a pitch for a top tier Dman at draft

Have my doubts that Kimmo is going to resemble anything worth what a team would trade a draft pick for. I'd take anything but I'd be surprised if he's moved at all.

2 League worst PK for much of the year

Yeah ES scoring is still an issue, but those 2 just crippled their playoff hopes.

I want Kimmo to go out a Flyer, but if he were to be moved Nashville is the only place I want him to go. Too weird seeing him in any other uniform.

The PK ties into the bad road record. The PK has been decent at home (80-plus percent) for the most part but awful on the road until the last few games.

The Flyers didn't really have all that slow of a start this year. The first few games, yes, but they were 7-5-2 coming out of their long schedule break in November. It was after that break where they fell apart and then did again after the Christmas break for the remainder of their road trip.

Yup, you could substitute one of ghost/laughton with cousins and the trade should go through. Still wouldn't do it I want the 1st this year

Great deal for both sides IMO. Buffalo got the best player involved in the deal, but Winnipeg got a pretty good return themselves.

Buffalo needs NHL players in the worst way, and they got 2 really, really good ones. They won't even miss Armia or Lemeiux with all the prospects they have and still have two 1sts in this draft.

Winnipeg mad a great deal at the perfect time; they want (need) to make the playoffs in the worst way. The return they got, all things considered with Kane, is stellar IMO. Chevaldayoff has been patient and diligent as their GM thus far, and it's paying off.

Nice analysis, Bill.

The way I see it, all of this stems from an average (at best) and inconsistent defense. Defense wins championships, but it also wins in the regular season. Being realistic, at the beginning of the season one could look at this roster and predict that making the playoffs would be a stretch.
